Caribbean Music Festival:
Sunday 9th July
Huddersfield Carnival is one of the largest outdoor festivals in West Yorkshire for the whole family to enjoy. On behalf of Huddersfield African Caribbean Cultural Trust, I would like to thank all of our supporters and sponsors who continue help to make the event such a big success.
Huddersfield Carnival is in its 33rd year, having grown from one float in the Mayor’s parade to become the largest festival in the Kirklees calendar and attracting an audience in the region of over 30,000.
Drawing inspiration from the Caribbean, the Carnival provides a medium through which local communities can develop and display their talents in costume design, music, dance and drama.
This year Huddersfield Carnival is celebrated over three days, commencing with the Carnival Royale Show Friday 7th July, where contestants compete for the opportunity to lead the Carnival Day Procession on Saturday 8th July. However sandwiched between these two fantastic events is J’ouvert which begins at midnight after the Carnival Royale Show.
On Sunday the 9th July we have the Caribbean Music Festival, where there will be music to dance all day and night.
